Garage door repair in Avondale, AZ

Avondale’s homes run from the historic blocks along Western Avenue and the 1990s lake homes of Garden Lakes to new builds in Roosevelt Park, Verde Trails and Alamar. For garage door repair, that spread matters: what usually breaks depends on when your home was built. Find your neighborhood below, then call a local company that serves your part of the city.

What breaks first depends on when your home was built

Springs, rollers and openers wear out on a rough schedule, so homes built around the same time tend to need the same repairs. Your own home may differ; these are the usual patterns.

When built and whereWhat tends to need work
Early 1900s onward: Historic Avondale (Old Town), around Western AvenueThe city’s oldest homes. Garages added or rebuilt over the years may have doors in non-standard sizes, so ask whether parts have to be ordered before you book.
1990s: Garden LakesHomes are around 30 years old. Springs have likely been replaced at least once, any original opener is past its usual life, and worn rollers and hinges are common.
About 1999 to 2001: Rancho Santa Fe and Coldwater SpringsAround 25 years old. At seven to ten years per set of springs, many are on their second or third set, and openers from the early 2000s are reaching the age where replacing beats repairing.
2020s, still being built: Roosevelt Park, Verde Trails and AlamarBuilder-installed doors and openers. Early problems are more often sensors, remotes or adjustment than worn parts.

Build years come from public property listings in each neighborhood, checked October 2026.

What Avondale homeowners should know

Give your cross streets, not just “Avondale.” The city runs from Garden Lakes in the north, across I-10, to Alamar near the Sierra Estrella. A company based on one side can take much longer to reach the other, so say where you are and ask how soon they can come.

New home? Call the builder first. If your door or opener went in within the last year or two, check the builder’s or installer’s warranty before paying anyone. A covered repair costs you nothing.

Check your HOA before replacing a whole door. Garden Lakes and Avondale’s newer planned communities have HOAs, and many set rules on door style and color. Repairs usually aren’t affected; a full replacement may need approval first.
